About the author

Neil Aaron Thompson received his PhD in Sociology in 2013 from the Copernicus Institute for Sustainable Development at Utrecht University in The Netherlands. His academic work focuses on entrepreneurship in the emerging bio-energy economy. Current work examines how entrepreneurs navigate cultural complexity to design new environmental organizations, how entrepreneurs use symbolic practices to leverage resources, and how and why entrepreneurs band together to shift the balance of power in the energy sector.
Neil received his Masters of Science from Utrecht University in 2008, with an emphasis on economics, small business development, and entrepreneurship. Originally from Farmington, New Mexico, he holds a BA in economics and finance from New Mexico State University in the USA.   His hobbies include traveling, skiing, scuba diving, photography and writing.
